Last weekend I had my first dance recital. I was all excited and had a lot of fun getting ready for the show. I got to wear pretty makeup and have my hair put up and everything!

But there's something about being on stage that's all lit-up ("too bright!") and looking out to a sea of people that you can't really see very well because it's so dark out there...well, that really freaked me out! I ended up pretty unhappy during the two shows I had to do. Boy, was I glad to get out of there so I could get home and dance my heart out!
Mommy and daddy told me that I will be old enough next year to decide whether I want to do the recital or not. They say they don't believe in torturing their baby....thank goodness!
The good thing about the recital is that I got ice cream and cookies after each show and I got pretty flowers that I could pick the petals off of (!!). Now that was fun.
Hey, some things are not for everybody.
More blogs to come.
Love,
Hui-Hui
(A note from Mommy 8/1/09: It was a heartbreaker to see Hui-Hui crying on stage but we were told she had a gay ole time backstage! The stage really frightened her but we know she wanted to dance because she spent almost the entire next week asking for music, dancing around the house and making up her own routines and songs. She's back in dance class this summer and loving it. So, no permanent damage to our little dancer.....)

Hi Hui-Hui - Love your "pre-recital" pictures. Glad you are having fun in dance class once again. We look forward to seeing you in about three months or so.

Auntie Sharon
Hi Hui Hui :-)
I'm so excited to hear your giving dance another try. Give it some time and you could end up a real pro like your momma. Your cousin Shannon loves to dance too and just joined a new dance group. Keep up the hard work princess. I miss you and hope to see you soon and maybe if your comfortable you can show me your routines. I love you.
XOXO
Auntie Kim
