Two years ago....

Mommy and Daddy are writing this post because…..it was 2 years ago today that they found out about me and that I was waiting for them in China!

We can hardly believe that 2 years has gone by since we got the telephone call that She Zhi Hui, a 17 month old little peanut was waiting for us to pick her up in the Hunan Province of China. We had waited so long for the call (18 months) we hardly felt it was real, until we received the email that night with her pictures and a brief description of her. The description said she was a happy little girl, loved music, had a ready smile, liked TV (!) and could be prone to willfulness (!!). Well, were they ever right on all accounts! 2 years later, we sit here in wonder that someone half a world away could know that Hui-Hui was destined to be our daughter, that we were meant to be a family. Today, she remains a sunny child who is almost all of the time talking, running, jumping, counting(well, eleventeen comes after nine, right?) and, overall, just making us smile like we've never smiled before. She loves going to her daycare three days a week, Friday morning preschool and dance lessons but we think she what she really likes most is just hanging out with mommy and daddy. The feeling is mutual, though we have to get some rest each week, so we head back to work for that! Parenting is the most tiring but the most fulfilling jobs we’ve ever held.

Hui-Hui is the light of our life and while it is completely different than our many years together before she came, we feel complete now and haven’t a clue how we could exist without her.

We love you, sweetie. You are the light that shines bright in our lives.
