It's hard to believe that it has been 6 weeks since we last updated the blog and that summer is almost over. Our social worker had told us that after people finally get their babies that there is often times a "black hole" in their blogs......so true! So much has happened since our last entry; plenty of great growth, development and fun with Hui-Hui, some sadness, and some exciting changes on the horizon. Since there's so much to update you on, I'll split this into 2 posts.
Right after our last blog, we headed off to California for Hui-Hui's introduction to the family and her big homecoming party. What a wonderful time Hui-Hui had meeting her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends! She charmed them all and she/they grew quite attached. Here are some pictures of her loving family.
A very sad part of our trip was the sudden and unexpected passing of Paul's dear mom, Marlive, just 2 days shy of meeting Hui-Hui. We are all deeply saddened but we are managing through our grief with the abundant joy and life that Hui-Hui brings. Marlive's legacy of kindness and love can live on through Hui-Hui........
We ended up staying in California for an additional week which gave Hui-Hui a chance to continue her immersion in "baby bootcamp"! Our family was so attentive which gave Hui-Hui almost non-stop attention and interaction. The outcome was an over-the-top jump in her development, including improved walking skills, eating with utensils, including CHOPSTICKS (for real!!!), throw kisses, standing up on her own, identifying body parts, loving cuddly toys, and more! Here's a picture of Hui-Hui at the ready at our dim sum outing with a fork AND a chopstick!
After our bittersweet visit in California but the wonderful opportunity for Hui-Hui to bond with the family, there wasn't a dry eye in the place when we said our good byes at the airport. We miss our family and look forward to their visit in October/November for Hui-Hui's birthday and halloween.

WE MISS YOU HUI-HUI!!! (and of course, P & C) You made us so happy and we had so much fun while you were here! and we were so thrilled to be part of your development and watching you learn ne wthings every day! It has been a long time since the last blog & we enjoy it very much. And whenever you have time we'll be looking for the next blog. Things has really calm down in SLZ - Hui-Hui & her parents left for home - it's too quiet here. Not even a boo from the local people. I'm sure Hui-Hui will be walking & running by the next time we'll see her. Keep it up baby.
